After close to two years waiting for this season of the Sopranos to begin, I must confess it felt eerily surreal to be watching a brand new episode today. Having watched (and re-watched) the first 5 seasons on DVD many, many times - it was with baited breath that I waited for the torrents to kick in. My usual modus operandi is to have my fave torrent site feed my RSS reader (Netnewswire) with info on the latest torrents. Having set one of my Dashboard clocks to New York time, I knew when the show would be airing. Once the torrent fed itself into my RSS reader, it’s off to Usenet and alt.binaries.multimedia to leech on. (Usenet is astronomically much faster than torrents).
And was it worth the wait? Hell yeah! A mind-blowing first up episode indeed that featured a completely surprising plot twist. I certainly was not expecting what happened and am very curious how this will all unfold.
Believe the hype. It simply does not get much better than this.

How freakin’ good was it? That plot twist was totally unexpected and left me completely hanging for the next episode. When you set the bar this high for television, it leaves 95% of the rest of the crap on TV for dead (no pun intended).
James I was waiting to see what your reaction would be. Amazing kick start to the new season. I didn’t expect it to unravel like that either, completely took me by surprise and I have no idea how this is all going to unfold. Amazing television!
Pity that when it hits local TV here in Australia it will be buried somewhere late at night, proliferated with as many ads as they can squeeze in and then the TV channels wonder why no one is watching them anymore.
Cannot wait till next week!
Tony’s dead! Season over!
What’s going to happen to Uncle Junior now? Clearly unstable. If he doesn’t end up shooting everyone, he’s going to be broadcasting on Radio WRAT! I think Junior is going to get whacked in the coming weeks. This show just gets better and better.
Junior will HAVE to get whacked but that’s too obvious so they’ve probably got something else planned for him.
Come’on next Monday already!!!!!!
Uncle Junior is such an amazing character! Pretty bold move by Dominic Chianese to be seen without his false teef in!
Here at work our network naming convention is based on Sopranos characters. Our main server is called CORRADO. A big fat PC which our chief programmer uses is called BACALA. My Powerbook is RICHIEAPRILLE although seeing as it is the 3rd Powerbook - I should really have renamed the subsequent ones! We were gonna label the Macs after female characters (’cos Macs are sleek and sexy heh!).
Our Backup Server/Drive is called SATRIALES and my backup drive is ARTIEBUCCO.
And on it goes!
Ahahaha nice one. Unfortunately I don’t work in a cool enough office to have that sort of setup but one can dream. We don’t even have linked iTunes libraries going on. Man I’ve gotta start looking for a cooler job!
The writers of this show are awesome at keeping things interesting. Any other show we could expect the next 3 shows to be excruciating detail of paramedics walking, ambulance driving, and everyone’s reaction as they found out - things obvious and boring. They are great at skipping over the tedious stuff and getting right to great parts of the story.
Should be interesting to see how Tony gets his claws into that inheritance money.
I think with Christopher being Captain and still as edgy as ever will be great to watch as well.
lol I got to say uncle June is funny.
