Baptism of Fire

Me!
I’ve just started my 3rd week at my new job and as of now, I am enjoying it immensely. There is a lot to learn still but I feel liberated that for the first time in over a decade, I am no longer working on online design and web-based multimedia. Quite a departure for yours truly but one I had been seeking for a while as I had grown weary of the web and its limitations. Although I will always be involved with the web-design discipline as I will continue to freelance as best as I can, I am enjoying the challenge of learning to use tools such as Final Cut Pro and/or DVD Studio Pro.

Today I learnt that my co-worker would be leaving her job at the end of next month which has really thrown me in the deep end as there is just so much to learn and accomplish in this now… limited time-frame. However, my boss has instructed me not to panic and feels confident I will be able to pick things up. I feel confident too but it is clearly evident that the next four weeks are gonna be tough. Bring it on…

In other developments in the Dogmatic world of JR, my personal life is at an all-time high. Spending each day with my girl is always rewarding and filling me with so much purpose and life. I never knew I could ever feel like this over a person who has enriched my life and smothered me with undying passion and desire. She is my partner, my lover, my friend, my constant companion and confidant in all aspects of my life. Gawd, she is my all.

Got A Mac & Love Nine Inch Nails?

Nine Inch Nails Garageband

Head on over to the official Nine Inch Nails website to download the new single in Apple Garageband format for you to remix, deconstruct and create your own mix of the song. According to the band, the entire ‘Year Zero’ album will be released in this format! (Hell yeah!)

Captain America Dead

Captain America Dead. Hopefully he stays dead, unlike DC Comic’s stunt of 1993 where they killed Superman and then had him return in 4 different incarnations… spawning 4 new comic book titles(!)

NIN: Survivalism Video

Nine Inch Nails Survivalism Video

You know the drill. Mystery USB drives are found at tonight’s London Nine Inch Nails gig. This time, not a leaked track of the forthcoming Year Zero album but a lo-res and hi-res version of the band’s new video for the ‘Survivalism’ track.

Killer video by the way which unlocks yet another website.

A New Beginning

Yesterday was a strange day. Last week I had the opportunity to apply for a Multimedia position that was being advertised in a popular Australian design forum. The job pre-requisites involved skills in design and video/audio production and an affinity for the Macintosh platform. Reading the job description I knew that my skillset when it comes to the video/audio side of things is minimal at best. Sure I’ve dabbled here and there and I know the basics of such apps as Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack - but I am hardly a skilled performer in these disciplines. Although… I sure as hell want to be!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The early comic books were amazing! Dark, brooding, sinister and nothing like the colorful ‘for kids only’ that the Turtles became in the early 90’s. The hype turned them into a kiddie phenomenon but now… the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back with a brand new all-CGI flick which is about to hit our screens.

A brief synopsis: After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their rat sensei, Master Splinter (Mako), becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters (Patrick Stewart) is raising up an army of ancient monsters, and only one super-ninja fighting team can stop them — those heroes in a half shell — Leonardo (James Arnold Taylor), Michelangelo (Mikey Kelley), Donatello (Mitchell Whitfield) and Raphael (Nolan North)! With the help of old allies April O’Neil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Casey Jones (Chris Evans), the Turtles are in for the fight of their lives as they once again must face the mysterious Foot Clan, who have put their own ninja skills behind Winters’ endeavors.

Making this new incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles truly cutting-edge, the film was created entirely with state-of-the-art CG animation, giving them a completely new look for the 21st century.

Warner Bros. Pictures and The Weinstein Company present an Imagi Animation Studios Production, “TMNT,” featuring the voices of Chris Evans, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mako, Kevin Smith, Patrick Stewart, Ziyi Zhang, and narrated by Laurence Fishburne. Kevin Munroe wrote and directed the film, which is produced by Thomas K. Gray, Galen Walker and Paul Wang. The executive producers are Francis Kao, Peter Laird, Gary Richardson and Frederick U. Fierst, with Felix Ip serving as co-producer. The music is by Klaus Badelt.

Jack Bauer the Action Figure

Jack Bauer the Action Figure

Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to catch up on the recent exploits of Jack Bauer in the latest series of ‘24′, I am looking forward to watching the episodes back-to-back when I get a chance. Having said that, McFarlane Toys will soon be releasing two new action figures based on Jack Bauer. Two figures of the show’s hero, Jack Bauer (played by Emmy® Award and Golden Globe winner, Kiefer Sutherland) are currently in production. Both are packaged as boxed sets and re-create scenes taken directly from the action-packed drama on Fox.

“Without question, 24 is one of TV’s biggest cliffhanger programs,” says McFarlane Toys’ CEO Todd McFarlane. “Kiefer Sutherland does an amazing job as Jack Bauer, the biggest reason people tune in each season. I know a lot of our fans will be excited to hear about us making figures of one of TV’s top action stars.”
