The Guardian Angel

The Guardian Angel

I posted this photo on my flickr set earlier today after my lunch break at work and called it ‘Guardian Angel’. This is clearly a wonderful piece of street-art on Sackville Street, Fitzroy - but it wasn’t until later tonight that I realized just how prophetic this photo’s title really was.

As I was driving home from my girlfriend’s place tonight, there was a car driving on the wrong side of the road… heading head on - straight for me!

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and this fleeting instant seemed to last forever. In the space of a split second I look in my rear-view mirror and saw that no one was to my left, so I swerved my car to get out of this lunatics way. In the process, I flashed my high beams at them to get their attention. They swerved out of the way and proceeded to head off at a ridiculous speed.

I felt an overwhelming shot of adrenaline pierce the base of my head and run down the length of my spine down my back. In a weird way, it felt orgasmic. Now, a couple of hours later, I can still feel this cold, eerie sensation permeating my spinal cord! So cold!

I was nearly killed - and lived to tell the tale.

Holy fuck!

I can’t believe what just happened. Tonight, I lost one of my nine lives, that is for sure…

Wow. Amazing. Glad you lived to tell.

Because, yeah, I still read but hardly get to commenting anymore anywhere. I try to read and work and (esp. after reading this) live.

    Take care.
