Continuing on with our look at classic-era KISS, here’s the band in 1974 getting ready for a gig at Alex Cooley’s Electric Ballroom.
Stay tuned for weekly updates for what is proving to be a popular section here at Dogmatic… When KISS Was Cool! (and Peter Criss could actually play the drums!)

Wow! These bring back memories!!! Just looking for an address for Alex Cooley’s as my wife is in Atlanta at the Fox Theater and I was curious if they were close together. Seems like I remember they were. I actually attended this concert as a recent high school graduate from Ohio on a rite of passage trek with my buddies going to Florida. “Rush” actually opened up for Kiss. We sat at a table about ten feet away from Gene. We could feel the heat when he blew fire and were utterly entranced as he drooled blood all over himself. Being completely lit, knowing next to nothing about either band as both had recently released their first albums, we were blown away. It turned us into “KISS” fanatics, attending 4-5 more concerts over the next 4 years. “18″, where have you gone!!
