Pic of the Bunch: Starving For Your Art

I had the opportunity to be in the city on my lunch break. Dunno why it’s deemed a ‘lunch’ break because with a rare opportunity like this, I’d rather be taking photos than eating. As hungry as I was, I spent my break quickly trawling through some of my fave streets and alleys and taking as many shots as I could before I had to head back into work.

I don’t think I can ever get tired of doing that. I consider it practice as I try to learn more and more about this craft. It brings me so much joy. I feel complete when I have the camera in my hand. I feel in harmony with the urban environment which always… always looks different from the viewfinder. It all looks constricted and as I focus in and out, I see people scurrying out of the way. Sometimes they smile. Sometimes they scowl. Sometimes they are completely oblivious that I am watching them and shyly, I try and pretend I am focussing on something else as I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable.

So today, I shot through my lunch break and continued to do so after work when I headed into Fitzroy for a stroll. The cool weather got the better of me and it was close to 8pm when I had realized… that I hadn’t eaten a thing all day.

Awesome pictures. I like the way you captured so much of the sky and the street level. Is that some special lense you used.
