Former Limp Bizkit member Wes Borland has joined Marilyn Manson as the group’s new guitarist. The news was announced by Manson himself at a press conference earlier today ahead of his band’s appearance tomorrow (Friday, August 15) at the ETP Festival in Seoul, Korea.
Manson said, “We have a new guitar player that’s gonna play for the first time tomorrow; it’s the first time we’ll play on stage [together]. His name is Wes Borland and he used to be in a really terrible band that he left because he felt that it was a destructive force in art, and he has his own band, Black Light Burns, but now he is in Marilyn Manson. We don’t know how permanent that is, but starting tomorrow will be the first step. So this will be the most indestructible Marilyn Manson.”
Marilyn Manson is in the middle of recording a new album, which is expected to be released sometime next year. (Let’s hope its a return to form and not the diabolical crap that was the last unlistenable ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’ garbage.
Manson’s longtime bassist, Twiggy Ramirez, toured with Manson earlier this year for the first time since 2002. The two co-wrote ‘Antichrist Superstar’, ‘Mechanical Animals’ and ‘Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)’ together and Manson told The Salt Lake Tribune this past spring that he couldn’t be happier aboutRamirez returning.

Sounds like Wes needed some money…
Sick…….
I am intruiged by this news, and also upset at the fact that it seems I and a group of my friends are the only people who liked the manson/tim skold pairing on “eat me/ Drink me.” I consider myself a fan of all manson and most rock for that matter, but I think EMDM was great because it was a departure from manson’s other albums. I think when an artist does something new he’s criticized, but if he records something too similar to his other albums the music is blasted for its lack of creativity and growth. Eat me drink me had amazing guitar work if nothing else, especially the guitar solos.
Marilyn Manson has been my favorite band since 1996. I’m about as big of a fan as you can get.
Eat Me, Drink Me, made me want to vomit. To the guy that said he thinks its criticized because it was a departure of his older music… every album has been a departure from his older music. There is probably no two albums of his that are more different than Anti-Christ Superstar and Mechanical Animals. A lot of people took a crap all over Mechanical Animals, but I thought it was brilliant.
My problems with EMDM have a lot to do with so much of the album sounding the same, the complete over reliance of vocal affects on every bit of Manson’s vocals, and the overall emo tone of the entire thing. Where’s the Manson that wrote Fight Song? The Manson that would fight back against things, not sit in the corner and cry?
The entire album, while deeply personal to him, connected to me in absolutely no way, which was the first time I could say that about one of his albums. The album was just boring to me. Its like he went out of his way to appeal to the Hot Topic kiddies.
I couldn’t be more excited about Twiggy joining the band, and with the new blood of Wes Borland, if nothing else, we’ll get something drastically different than EMDM which, no matter what it is, should be an improvement.
Jordie back, Wes in (even if Limp did suck the big one), sounds like the new Manson might actually be worth listening too… something I have barely done since Holy wood.
Personally I panned EMDM in some online reviews I wrote, for the reasons listed above.
