As per the photos above, Creem magazing published the unmasked pics sometime in 1979. Also, throughout the 1977-1978 era, there were many, many shots of Gene unmasked - around about the time he was dating Cher. Also, in 1979 in Australia - the Sunday Observer paper published the Creem photos again. With all due respect Remi, that was not the first photo of KISS unmasked. As per the photos above, Creem magazing published the unmasked pics sometime in 1979. Loved the Youtube clip at the end. Having just missed out seeing them in 1980 at Waverly Park I eventually saw them live on the first night in Melbourne of their "first" "last tour". My brother-in-law and I slapped on the warpaint and it was awesome. As anybody that's seen them live can attest, they are FAR better on stage than in the studio (that's not to say they haven't done good work there, but some of their earlier stuff as well as that in the late 80's/early 90's was pretty patchy).
