Hey Droogs,
You may have noticed the site was down for most of today. I was getting the error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Currently we are running Wordpress 2.6.2 (the latest version) and the latest build of the K2 theme.
Switching off wp-cache, solves the problem as obviously, you are reading this now.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and/or can offer a solution. I’d like to have the wp-cache plugin working as it speeds things up considerably.
Email me at: dogmatic@gmail.com or leave a comment here.
Cheers!

I did a tiny bit of searching…seems like the issue might be related to gzip compression within WordPress. Funny thing is, the WP folks removed it in WP 2.5, so…you’ve got to have a particular plugin installed. Do you have this installed?

Otherwise, I’m seeing that this is happening with other people - if you manage to find a solution, I’d definitely be interested. Don’t see any other solutions besides resetting WP-Cache to defaults (which doesn’t seem to work reliably) or disabling it completely.
Hey Mike
Thanks for your suggestion. My hosting company (Dreamhost) was no help in this matter and rattled off some other reason the site was down. At this point with Wp-Cache disabled, all is working ok.
I’ll try that gzip plugin and see what that does.
Cheers again…
JR
Yeah, I host with Dreamhost, too. I don’t use WP-Cache, though, so this is a tricky problem for me to navigate.
I wouldn’t bother with gzip, myself. It just seemed like having both the gzip plugin and WP-Cache enabled might cause the errors to happen more often.
Hmm.
Another option is WP Super Cache. This is a separate plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/
The author is one of the core WordPress developers, so maybe it’ll work better than WP-Cache?
Oh, on a separate note…would you consider adding this plugin, please?
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/
I would have replied immediately if I had known you had commented.
Hey Mike
Yep, I installed wp-super-cache last week and all was sorted. (sorry I didn’t reply in here sooner).
Truly appreciate you taking the time to offer a hand. (THANK YOU!)
Will install the ’subscribe’ plugin now…
Thanks, dude!!
