Lemmy Action Figure

Lemmy Action Figure

Motorhead frontman Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister recently spoke to the Artisan News Service about the Lemmy Icon Figure (image), which is about to begin shipping from Locoape, creators of iconic figures and collectibles. An edition of 2,500 pieces is one exclusive that includes an individually numbered Motorhead ‘Ace of Spades’ playing card as well as an authentic D’Andrea Lemmy guitar pick. Also available is an autographed edition limited to only 50 pieces worldwide. (I have one of these limited ones on order!)

“I had to stand on this platform while the camera went around and did the hologram thing and then they made the model, only smaller,” Lemmy said. “They said it’s an action figure, and I said, ‘So, you’re gonna put a dick on it?’ They said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Well, then it’s not going to get much action then, is it?’ A bad name for it, right?”

Armageddon Expo 2007

Armageddon Expo 2007

I had been really looking forward to the Armageddon Expo for a couple of months. For some reason or another, we hardly get any of these sorta cool expos/conventions on these shores so there was no way I was gonna miss out on this.

Unfortunately, it proved to be a little on the disappointing side. There really was nothing on offer that you don’t see at your local comic book shop, so I kinda left the event with tail between my legs and feeling a little ripped off.

Still, I am hopeful that future events will be better and at least this is a start to more geek and sci-fi fun for all us perennial geeks and freaks!

The Godfather Action Figure

The Godfather Action Figure McFarlane Toys

1972’s The Godfather is one of the most acclaimed films of all time. The story of the aging patriarch of the Corleone family transferring control of his empire to his reluctant son has captivated generations of moviegoers and brought new meaning to the word, “family.” Now, Don Corleone (Marlon Brando) has been immortalized in plastic in the form of an action figure from McFarlane Toys! Freaking awesome!

Jack Bauer the Action Figure

Jack Bauer the Action Figure

Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to catch up on the recent exploits of Jack Bauer in the latest series of ‘24′, I am looking forward to watching the episodes back-to-back when I get a chance. Having said that, McFarlane Toys will soon be releasing two new action figures based on Jack Bauer. Two figures of the show’s hero, Jack Bauer (played by Emmy® Award and Golden Globe winner, Kiefer Sutherland) are currently in production. Both are packaged as boxed sets and re-create scenes taken directly from the action-packed drama on Fox.

“Without question, 24 is one of TV’s biggest cliffhanger programs,” says McFarlane Toys’ CEO Todd McFarlane. “Kiefer Sutherland does an amazing job as Jack Bauer, the biggest reason people tune in each season. I know a lot of our fans will be excited to hear about us making figures of one of TV’s top action stars.”

KISS Sideshow Figures

I used to be a huge fan of KISS back in the day and all the way up until their massively successful Reunion Tour of 1996-1997. Although, I wouldn’t consider myself a fan these days as the band has become an absolute joke and completely ruined by greed and ridiculous merchandise opportunities that are nothing short of farcical. We won’t even begin to mention the KISS Store they were set to launch here in Melbourne, Australia. Doomed from the outset, the supposed store never even launched. The band these days is nothing but a glorified tribute/nostalgia act - I mean, dressing up your road manager in Ace Frehley make-up and costume is downright ludicrous. These schmucks think they can pull that one off but the fans are leaving them in droves.

But from the quagmire that is modern day KISS, I must admit getting a little bit excited about these new collector figures that are about to be released. The KISS band members have been meticulously recreated by Sideshow’s artistic team. Sculptor Pablo Viggiano, working with clothing fabricators Greg Mowry and Gidget Earle, has created the definitive 1:4 scale reproduction of each band member. Sideshow’s Premium Format sculptures stand approximately 18 inches tall, and utilize a variety of components, including polystone, metal, and fabrics to achieve an astonishing likeness.

Sideshow’s Creative Director, Tom Gilliland, anticipates limited editions for each Premium Format KISS figure, with an MSRP of $249.99. The KISS line will begin shipping with ‘The Spaceman’ figure in fourth quarter, 2006. A new figure will be shipped every other month thereafter, until all four band members have regrouped in your collection. Sideshow is the premier source for highly collectible figures, statues, busts, framed art, prop replicas and figure-study maquettes. Sideshow products are available online at: www.sideshowcollectibles.com, as well as through specialty shops, comic book stores, and via collectible web sites worldwide.

Based on his appearance in the video for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ the NECA Kurt Cobain Action figure includes his guitar, rendered in painstaking detail, and part of the gymnasium floor as the base. Be on the lookout for Kurt to stand with his guitar again on store shelves late in June.

One wonders if series two will feature Courtney Love and a gun?

Lemmy Action Figure

Motorhead's Lemmy Action Figure

SEG has entered into an agreement with Bravado International for figural and statue rights to the infamous band Motörhead. For the past 30 years, Lemmy Kilmister and his band Motörhead have seen and done it all and lived to tell about it. And what’s more amazing is that they’re still going strong. Not only did Motörhead pick up a Grammy in 2005, but they’re still out on the road playing to sold out crowds around the world. Viewed by his peers and the masses as the “Godfather” of hard rock music, Lemmy has become an indisputable icon that has etched his place in history as one of the best.

SEG is proud to announce it will be releasing a highly detailed figure of Lemmy Kilmister in the Spring of 2006 with a statue of the iconic Warpig logo in the Fall of 2006.
