I’m still not sure how I feel about the new Metallica tracks. I’ve heard two so far. One, (the video above) is ok, (except for that godawful racket coming from the drums! UGH!) the other… sucks! Having said that, I kinda am looking forward to the new album which is about to be released… albeit apprehensively. These guys have let me (and their hardcore fanbase) down too many times.

Just what we need, more posing and preening from James and Lars. God those two have lost touch so badly with what Metallica was and stood for. Remember back when it was “we’ll never do music videos”? Now they’re in a desert of all places airbanding to their own music. Pathetic. James is a horrible singer and he should go back to barking out lyrics rather than trying to sing. He sounds like a cat in heat that just got hit by a car. Show me one place on Kill ‘em all, Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets when James “sings”. It doesn’t happen. And don’t say Sanitarium or Fade To Black because in those songs he’s basically talking while trailing off his words. I guess not even the genius Rick Rubin could get them back to doing what they did best. This still sounds like Bob Rock produced it. This type of thing use to bother me but now I don’t even care. Metallica is dead to me.
I miss Cliff more and more every day.
I’ve come to the realization that it wasn’t Cliff that died that day… it was Metallica itself.

metallica is as bad ass as they have ever been. so what they made a few cheesy videos, any good band that is out there has. with st anger the band was in a bad spot, and death magnetic is a great cd you just gotta appreciate it. none of the songs are bad, yes james’s voice in some of the songs could use a little tune up, but its the fastest music they have played since the 80’s so u have to appreciate that. u have to take in ming too they have a new bassist who has some influence on what music is produced. for hsi first album i think he all in all did a good job. all of u people talking shit are just talking shit get over yourselves.yea i know when the black album came they lost their touch of the “metal” side, but they had finally come together as a full band. u have to be tone deaf if u cant appreciate the medlodies and great tracks they put together. im as big of a metal head as they get and i can appreciate every aspect of the music they right. so what if they lost their hardcore metal style 18 years ago, so what if james’s voice isnt the same. hes been an alcohol for almost 35 years, give the guy a break. thats what boos does to ya. u cant sit here and tell me that every other great band sounds exactly the same as they did when they first introduced themselves. so get your heads of your asses and open your ears to the good quality of music instead of focusing on the “shit”.
