pic: l - r: yours truly gets all Matrix’d out and two shots of my girlfriend given the Poladroid treatment!
I’ve always been a fan of the ‘Polaroid’ look and over the years, I’ve used a lot of Polaroid-like snaps in various web design projects or personal digital art. I’ve always loved the color a Polaroid camera produces - especially over time when the photo begins to fade and you get some gorgeous washed-out tones and textures.
Well now you can achieve that Polaroid effect without Photoshop and without a Polaroid camera!
A friend of mine recently turned me on to the Poladroid website and application where you can make your very own Polaroid shots. The app is so damn cool (and cute!) and can be downloaded from here.
Also, check out their Flickr group were punters the world over are submitting their Poladroid shots!
(Mac OSX only at this stage…)

I had the opportunity to be in the city on my lunch break. Dunno why it’s deemed a ‘lunch’ break because with a rare opportunity like this, I’d rather be taking photos than eating. As hungry as I was, I spent my break quickly trawling through some of my fave streets and alleys and taking as many shots as I could before I had to head back into work.

I don’t think I can ever get tired of doing that. I consider it practice as I try to learn more and more about this craft. It brings me so much joy. I feel complete when I have the camera in my hand. I feel in harmony with the urban environment which always… always looks different from the viewfinder. It all looks constricted and as I focus in and out, I see people scurrying out of the way. Sometimes they smile. Sometimes they scowl. Sometimes they are completely oblivious that I am watching them and shyly, I try and pretend I am focussing on something else as I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable.

I always loved this shot I took of a DJ at Revolver several months ago. You can view the original shot here.

I was recently interviewed about my photography by Frame Lines magazine. (No, that’s not me on the cover!)
Frame Lines aims to be ‘Melbourne’s largest ‘free’ independent arts, lifestyle and culture magazine’. You can read more about them over at their official website.
The article on yours truly and my photographs appear under the Melbourne’s Characters section. It was great fun contributing and being part of something young and vibrant. It made me feel all tingly inside it did!
You can download a copy of the magazine in PDF format right here.

Check out this amazing pictorial featuring Richard Beymar’s photos from the final episode of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. Simply astounding!
