Rick is turning himself into a zombie. So far, more than 24 hours of tattoos – costing over £4,075 Canadian – have got him halfway there and made him a minor celebrity on the internet, where people can’t decide if he’s a body modification visionary or mentally ill sicko.
Bizarre caught up with Rick for an exclusive interview and photoshoot to see what life is like when you’re transforming yourself into the living dead.
Check it all out right about here…

Although I was never a fan of the tattooists on Miami Ink, I always thought their work was kinda on the ordinary side (Kat Von D excluded of course) - its sad to see that the show is coming to a close.
Ami James said he and co-star Chris Nuñez declined to extend Discovery Communications’ option to order more episodes of the TLC show after the network delayed signing them on for another season. He said no talks are under way to shoot more episodes of their lives as South Beach tattoo artists.
Spin-off series LA Ink is still going strong, largely due to the appeal of main-babe Kat Von D. There is also a London Ink show about to hit the airwaves.
Now if only we could get a weekly series based on Paul Booth and the Last Rites Tattoo studio…

Guy Aitchison and Michele Wortman: Apple Ink.
When most people think of tattoos, they don’t think of computers and software. But for tattoo artists Guy Aitchison and Michele Wortman of Hyperspace Studios, the Mac is as essential as skin.

On April 5th, the New York art scene is going to get a lot darker. Legendary painter and tattoo artist Paul Booth, of Last Rites Tattoo Theatre, is opening up NYC’s only gallery devoted to the macabre, erotic and surreal.
Last Rites Gallery’s inaugural show, Transgression, curated by gallery director Genevive Zacconi, showcases artists ranging from internationally renowned sculptor and Alien designer H.R Giger to classical oil painter Shawn Barber, to tattoo-artist Vincent Castiglia, whose beautifully rendered watercolors are painted in his own blood. Designed to provoke thoughts and shatter taboos, Transgression will introduce viewers to 31 artists who change what we think art is.
Transgression opens on Saturday, April 5th, 7-10pm at Last Rites Gallery, 511 W. 33rd Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues (3 blocks from Penn Station), 3rd floor, New York, NY 10001. Show runs April 5th thru April 28th, 2008. More info at www.lastritesgallery.com.

About Last Rites Owner Paul Booth:
A tattoo artist for nearly two decades and a painter for years before that, Paul Booth has devoted his life to the evolution of his craft. In the tattoo industry, after years of public appearances and numerous international awards, Paul Booth is now a household name. He has been featured on networks such as CNN, MSNBC, DISCOVERY, A&E, TLC, and MTV.
Due to the macabre nature of his style, Paul has tattooed many major metal bands. As a result, in 2002, Rolling Stone Magazine dubbed Paul “The new king of rock tattoos.” There is currently a two-year waiting list for his work.
I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Paul Booth back in 2000 for a site I ran called ‘Where The Wild Things Are’. Some of you may remember that one… most of you won’t! Unfortunately I have lost my archives which contained (what I thought) was an awesome interview with Paul… easily the world’s finest tattooist. Hands down! These days, there’s hardly a Metal band that doesn’t feature some of Paul’s stylings- he clearly is a talent that no one can match. Check out the above clip for a small sampling of the genius of Paul Booth!
